New Years Blog and Artist Reflections
Updated: Sep 12, 2020
Happy (belated) New Year to my readers/viewers! I hope everyone had a happy holiday and is ringing in the new year with a fresh start and happiness.
That being said, I would like to share leading up to the new year and after what is the latest in my little art world!
For starters, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how far my art has come and progressed over the months. I know I focused on self motivation in my last blog, and I have taken the time out around the holidays to appreciate the hard work I have put into my work. I promised myself when I chose to start sharing my art, no matter how challenging it may become that I won’t ever stop. After a charity event I attended I connected with another artist who has started to mentor me on this art journey I am on. She not only encourages me to create but to explore every opportunity possible.
I'm sure there are artists out there who can relate to not having a strong support system with their craft. That's why I encourage anyone who feels that way to get yourself out there! Keep attending events and visiting galleries, find people in the art community and allow their positive energy to be something you gravitate towards for inspiration. You will see results in your work. Since, I have had a lot of positive outcomes. None that I was not expecting.
Art is something that you have to be passionate about and be willing to chase, the opportunities are out there but you have to be willing to chase them down and make them yours.
Own them and be confident in your work.
So, what's new?
Well, in December I submitted works to several different galleries, exhibits, competitions, etc. Some I will not hear back from for a few weeks/months. But last week, I heard back from Jones Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri and a piece was selected for a group art show for the month of February! A big thank you to the Jones Gallery.
You may have seen that I shared the piece below a few weeks ago. I made this piece after focusing on styles of a famous painter. It got selected for Arts and Scholars Art Show at Lehigh Carbon Community College in April, 2020.
Lastly, a few of my pieces will be on display and for sale at Blick Art Store, in Allentown, PA this month, I will post dates soon. If you follow my posts you will also see that I recently had unexpected health issues that pushed back my featured artist of the weekend at Cherry St. Pier in Philadelphia. However, I am going to be down at the Pier 1st Friday in February and some other weekends once recovered. More details to come.
Thank you for reading my blog and feel free to subscribe for updates and discount codes on art!
Please Like, Share, or Comment on my work to spread my art and help me encourage self-expression!
